Both Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani have been heard saying the same thing over and over again. Work on Don 3 has begun. Once again, the producer has addressed the highly anticipated third installment of the series, assuring fans that Farhan is now finalizing the screenplay. The fans were probably thrilled by this news. Ten years of anticipation have built up for Don 3.
Since the 2012 release of Don 2, fans have been anticipating Shah Rukh Khan’s return to the role of Don in the successful action series. Fans have been going wild trying to predict what would happen in Don 3 ever since Hrithik Roshan was cast in the lead role in the second film.
Ritesh Sidhwani has now told PTI that the film’s director, Farhan Akhtar, may soon be able to wrap up production. My business partner, Farhan Akhtar, is now writing it, so we can’t go further until he’s done. He is now wrapping up the scripting process… “Don” has everyone excited, including ourselves, the producer is reported as saying.
Ritesh Sidhwani uploaded a photo of Farhan Akhtar hard at work on something around a year ago, with the description, “100% attention even when he’s putting pen to paper (err.. fingers to keyboard) @faroutakhtar is back in writer mode after a lengthy absence. What do you think he’s up to?”
Don: The Chase Begins (2006) was a joint effort between Shah Rukh Khan and Farhan Akhtar. The film, originally starring Amitabh Bachchan, was remade with Priyanka Chopra and Isha Koppikar in the lead roles. ‘Ye mera dil, Pyar ka Deewana,’ the original version of which had Kareena Kapoor Khan swaying her leg sensuously, was also included. Since the movie did so well financially, its creators are considering making sequels.
Don 2: The King Is Back, the sequel to the 1994 film, was released in 2011. According to IMDb trivia, Farhan took an internet fan notion and turned it into a script for the film. Lara Dutta and Kunal Kapoor also appeared in the movie.
It was announced a few years ago that the third installment in the Don series would be the last, and it was given the title Don: The Final Chapter. Given their respective backstories, the pairing of Shah Rukh Khan and Priyanka Chopra feels like a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. While Farhan Akhtar’s Jee Le Zara is presently being performed by PCJ. Let’s hold off on judgment till we get more information.
